A Collaborative Hub for Resilience, Creativity, and Local Enterprise
Celo Commons is transforming the historic former Celo Inn into a vibrant, multi-use community hub for the South Toe Valley. Partially damaged by Hurricane Helene, the building now represents an opportunity to strengthen local resilience, support small businesses, and provide accessible wellness, education, and creative spaces for the wider community.
A Space That Serves Everyone
Host workshops, community skill-sharing, wellness classes, and seasonal markets.
Studios and offices for artists, small businesses, and health & wellness practitioners.
Weekly pop-up markets, gardens, and spaces for hands-on learning.
Renovation funds will support structural upgrades, flood resilience, and energy-efficient improvements, ensuring the Commons is sustainable and safe for generations to come. Every detail will be designed to preserve the historic charm while making the building adaptable to climate-related challenges.
Celo Commons connects longstanding partners—including AMY Wellness, Celo Community, Equinox Woodworks, Dig In! Yancey Community Garden, and others—into a central hub for collaboration, entrepreneurship, and service delivery. By providing space for health services, creative enterprise, education, and food access, the Commons fosters a resilient local economy and improves quality of life for residents across the South Toe Valley.
Celo Commons is more than a building—it’s a model for rural revitalization, where shared values, creativity, and collaboration meet practical solutions for our community’s needs. Your support helps us:
Preserve a historic landmark
Expand access to wellness, food, and education
Support local entrepreneurs and small businesses
Build a resilient, inclusive, and thriving South Toe Valley
